Celebrating

Seuss!

Friday, March 2 is Dr. Seuss's 108th birthday. Join us at the library as we pay tribute to this ground-breaking author with special storytimes, readers, and activities!

All week long (February 27—March 2), children who check out a book or an audio-book from any of our 3 libraries will be registered in a drawing for a Dr. Seuss book and toy character.

Mars Hill: beginning Monday, February 27 and continuing all week, guest readers will be at the library to read a Dr. Seuss story. The story will be followed by a game. The fun starts at 4 pm every day, and will culminate on Friday, March 2 with Seuss celebration with yummy refreshments.

In Marshall, guest readers will be on hand on Wednesday, February 29 from 9 am until 10 am and on Friday, March 2 from 10 am until 11 am. Also on Friday, March 2, a Dr. Seuss movie will be shown at 3:30 pm, followed by a celebration with yummy refreshments.

Story Time---Each Week, Each Library

Young children can now enjoy a story and craft weekly at their favorite library location. Each of our libraries offers the reading of a story and an accompanying craft every week. This is a wonderful way to introduce very young children to the joys that books can bring, and a great example for older siblings to realize that reading can be just for pleasure and entertainment. Also, and maybe more importantly, Story Time is a way for young children, even infants, to begin developing crucial literacy skills.

So check out the schedule below to find a good time for you and your children to attend a Story Time at the library:

Hot Springs: every Monday at 4 pm

Mars Hill: every Wednesday at 11 am

Marshall:  every Thursday at 10:30 am

MADISON COUNTY PARTNERSHIP

FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

You may know us by another name, Smart Start, which is North Carolina’s nationally recognized early childhood initiative designed to ensure that all children under the age of six are healthy and prepared for success when they enter school. In Madison County, we are fittingly known as The Partnership, because we work as a team with families, local agencies and community volunteers to strengthen family and community resources to nurture the development of every child.  Our vision is that all children in Madison County from birth to kindergarten are ready to reach their full potential.

Come see our window display at the Marshall Public Library during February.

Call us for more information at 689-1525. We hope to hear from you!
