We are here to serve you. Our library system houses a vast collection that includes a wide selection of items for all ages and interests. New items are ordered regularly. Suggestions are encouraged!

Fax – Sending $2 first page, $1 additional pages; Receiving $1 each page

Photocopies – 25 cents per page; $1 for color

Computer Printouts – 25 cents for black/white; $1 for color

Disc cleaning - $1 per disc (CDs, DVDs, game discs); unit cleans and lightly buffs item; unit may not restore usability on damaged discs

InterLibrary Loan - $5 (for postage) paid in advance per item requested

Library Card Guidelines
What you need to know
Library Cards:
Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Madison County is eligible for a free library card. Residents of counties adjacent to Madison County may obtain a card for a fee of $10.00. Apply in person with a valid driver's license or other official photo-ID identification and proof of current address. Library cards should be treated with care. Patrons are held financially responsible for materials checked out on their library cards. Additional information:

Your library card is valid system wide.

Your Library card must be presented to borrow, renew or request materials.

All library materials charged on you card are your responsibility.

For a child under 18 to have a card, the parent or legal guardian must be a registered patron.

Notify the library if you lose your card or change your address. Replacement cost for a lost card is $5.
Loan Period:

Books, audiobooks, CDs – 4 weeks

Videos & DVDs (limit 5 per household) – 1 week, with a rental fee of 25 cents per movie or 5 movies for $1 applies

Renewals:

In person – Books, audiobooks, music CDs, videos, or DVDs may be renewed once if you are no hold requests on them.

Over the phone – Call any branch, or the main library in Marshall at (828) 649-3741.

Overdue items – May be renewed. Late fees to the renewal date will apply.
Hold Requests:

Any item that circulates may be placed on hold.

Holds may be placed in person, by phone, or online.

To place a hold request on line, you must first set up a PIN for your account through a staff member.

An arrived hold will be held for 3 business days once you have been notified.
Late fees:

Fines are calculated for each day, except when the library is closed (i.e. Sundays and holidays).

Overdue fines must be paid in order to maintain borrowing privileges.

Patrons who owe more than $10 in fines will not be permitted to check out library materials, including computers.

Patrons who owe fines will not be permitted to use their children's cards to check out materials for themselves.

Children of Patrons who owe fines may check out two children's books, but not adult books or movies of any kind.
