The Madison County History and Genealogy Room, located at our Marshall location, is open to the general public.
Do you have Madison County roots? If so, you will enjoy browsing through the many donated family histories, public records, cemetery records, Civil War registries, old maps, or old newspapers (on microfilm) in your quest to document your family’s history. Also contained in the room are one-of-a-kind history books about Madison County and North Carolina. To assist you in planning ahead, most of the items in the History Room are listed in our OPAC (online catalog), which may be viewed from this website CATALOG SEARCH (at left).
As an added bonus, accessible from any of our library public computers, is a special library version of Ancestry.com which allows searching of census, birth, and death records in detail without charge! Madison County Library Card holders also have access to Heritage Quest through NCLive.org for free from any location! Please have your library card number handy.
