                Banjo player sculpture

                 

                 When the Marshall library was dedicated, a stone sculpture was unveiled.   This piece graces the entrance as you walk into library.

                The story of the sculpture is as beautiful as the sculpture.The Madison County Arts Council initiated the County's first public sculpture, seeking volunteers to work with expert sculpture, Paris Alexander of Raleigh.  Alexander is renowned for direct carving in stone and assisted sculptors for 2 days to create the the relief of a musicians hands  playing a mountain banjo.
