Super Readers Book Club for Kids!
The goal of Super Readers is to culitivate the love of reading in our young children and enrich the reading experience for families by reading aloud as a group.
Our group is comprised of children and grown-ups who want to share the love of books. Many of the group is unable to read on their own, all ages are welcome.
The librarians put together an awesome selection of books for our group to enjoy during our meetings! There are a lot of new arrivals and old favorites among the selections.
The children are also welcome to bring in their own books to read out loud or utilize the library's collection on their own.
We encourage the older children to read to the younger kids who are inspired by the reading role models.
The older children benefit too from this experience, reading out loud is a necessary skill in the world!
We would love for every grown up to shadow at least one read aloud, to offer assistance with vocabulary and enrich the experience for the group.
Our second monthly meeting will be held on February 21st, Tuesday afternoon from 4:30-5:30 in the meeting room at the Marshall branch library.
We are celebrating one of our favorite authors, Shel Silverstein, with a "release party" for his new book Everything On It.
Please bring a favorite selection, whether poem or book, to read aloud or have someone else read aloud to you.
Also we'd love to decorate the room with custom illustrations from our young members inspired by the author/illustrator.
We were thrilled to have 27 readers of all abilities at our inaugural meeting last month and look forward to seeing everyone in the future.
Look back next month for book reviews on our group read, The World According to Humphrey from our club members.
If you plan on joining us, please make sure your Madison County library cards are current so you can take home lots of good reads!
I'd love to have some volunteers for refreshments at our February meeting. If you're interested please email Ashley Garland at firstname.lastname@example.org!
